random things from today (and possibly yesterday, or maybe even last weekend)
- Someone had an ice-cold can of Coke at the admin luncheon I went to today (the theme was tailgaiting food - crackers and cheese, veggies and dip, pork barbeque sandwiches...better than what I had brought in, that's for sure!), and ever since I saw it I have been craving one. Not a bottle of Coke, not a glass or cup of it, a can. I may hit up a vending machine at work tomorrow.
- I got a 100 on my first graded networking assignment! (I turned in one the week before, but it hasn't been graded yet because I had to resend the files in a different format so my professor could open them.) I am so excited. I'm still not optimistic about the rest of the class, though. My mind is just not geared for that stuff, I think. Or maybe it's 'cause I'm skimming the chapters...
- We got a tax refund check in today's mail, which was quite a nice surprise since we weren't expecting a refund this year. While it's not enough to take a vacation to a tropical island with, it's more than a shiny nickel, and it's going straight into a savings account.
- There were pumpkins at farmer's market when I went last weekend. Hello, fall!
- For A Few Demons More and Kushiel's Justice, the new books in Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series and Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series, respectively, are out and on their way to me as I type. I ordered a book of kitchen tips, too. I love books.
- I'm totally loving the BtVS - Season Eight comics. It really does feel like it's another season of the show, and I'm glad Joss went ahead with the idea. I'm even looking forward to the comic book season of Angel, which should tell you how serious this is.
- My sinuses are still pretty messed up, and the current manifestation involves an alternately stuffy and runny nose. I can't smell much of anything unless it's really strong (like the skunk spray that was stinking up our front yard the other night), which is both a blessing and a curse. It makes cleaning out the puppies' litter box MUCH less unpleasant, and Mike's cigars don't bother me as much as they normally would, but it also makes it hard to enjoy my morning bowl of oatmeal with pumpkin and baked cinnamon apples. And it would be nice to be able to breath through my nose again at some point.
- I love the way Maddy puts her paws on my face when she's giving kisses. It's almost like she's holding me in place until she's done. Sometimes she changes it up and only puts one paw on me, which is just as cute.
